  31.      When running the Quicken finance software and printing to a NetWare Lite
  32.      captured printer, Quicken printing fails with the following message:

  36.           Can't print to LPT1

  38. CAUSE

  40.      A bug in CLIENT.EXE caused the problem.
  41.

  44.      File attributes are being received across the network.

  46. CAUSE

  48.      A problem with OPENDEV.PAT caused the symptom.

  50. SYMPTOM

  52.      When a client station has open files on a NetWare Lite server and the
  53.      client reboots with the files still open, sometimes the files will not be
  54.      closed when the client reconnects or when watchdog clears the station
  55.      connection.

  57. CAUSE

  59.      A bug in SERVER.EXE caused the problem.

  61. SYMPTOM

  63.      NetWare Lite print jobs are being lost when the printer has been turned
  64.      off or taken offline.

  72.      When using the NET CAPTURE or NET PRINT commands as the first commands
  73.      from a client to a server that has just been rebooted, the following
  74.      messages will be displayed and the command will fail:

  78.           Redirect device -- Too many open files.

  82.      MESSAGE

  84.           Write file -- Access denied.

  86. CAUSE
  87.  
  88.      A bug in CLIENT.EXE causes the reconnection between server and client to
  89.      fail when the NET CAPTURE or NET PRINT commands are issued by a client to
  90.      a server that has just been rebooted.  Subsequent NET CAPTURE or NET
  91.      PRINT commands from the client station will work normally.

  95.      Printer output that has been captured through NetWare Lite is corrupted.

  97. CAUSE
  98.  
  99.      A bug in CLIENT.EXE caused certain applications run on a client/server
  100.      with a local printer to produce printer output that has been corrupted.

  102. SYMPTOM
  103.  
  104.      The NetWare Lite server appears to hang when loading applications in
  105.      Window's startup box.
  106.  
  107. CAUSE
  108.  
  109.      When automatically loading applications with Windows 3.1 and running
  110.      NetWare Lite, a bug in SERVER.EXE caused the server to not respond until
  111.      some of the automatically loaded applications were closed.
  112.  
  113. SYMPTOM
  114.  
  115.      When running an application that performs background printing on a
  116.      server/client with a printer connected locally, the station locks.  Some
  117.      applications that exhibit this problem (not limited to) are Foxpro,
  118.      Mas90, Clipper, WordPerfect, PeachTree, Timeslip, Microfocus Cobol, and
  119.      Red Wing.

  121. CAUSE
  122.  
  123.      A bug in CLIENT.EXE caused applications doing background printing on a
  124.      NetWare Lite server/client where printing is captured to a printer
  125.      connected locally to experience a server lock up sometimes.
  126.  
  127.      The problem requires the station to be rebooted.  Each time the station
  128.      is rebooted because of this problem, lost clusters are left on the hard
  129.      disk.  If this happens enough times without running "chkdsk /f" the FAT
  130.      table will become corrupted.
  131.  
  132. SYMPTOM
  133.  
  134.      When using IBM ValuePoint models 425sx or 433dx and pressing the
  135.      <Ctrl>+<Alt> keys to reboot the server or when a popup printer status
  136.      screen is being displayed, the video screen switches to 40 column mode.
  137.  
  138. CAUSE
  139.  
  140.      A bug in SERVER.EXE caused the monitor to switch to the 40 column mode.
  141.  
  142. SYMPTOM
  143.  
  144.      Print jobs sent to an offline printer will hang Windows if Windows is
  145.      running in a super VGA mode, such as 8514.
  146.  
  147. CAUSE
  148.  
  149.      NetWare Lite uses a popup message box to indicate the status of the
  150.      printer.  A bug in SERVER.EXE causes the popup message box to hang
  151.      Windows.
  152.  
  153. SYMPTOM
  154.  
  155.      With the DoubleSpace device driver, nonexistent drives get set to valid
  156.      physical drives after running the NET utility.
  157.  
  158. CAUSE
  159.  
  160.      MS-DOS 6.00 changed the way the pointer to the Drive Parameter Block
  161.      (DPB) is used in the Current Directory Structure (CDS).  CLIENT.EXE was
  162.      setting a drive status to "valid physical drive" after using the drive as
  163.      a network drive.

  165. SYMPTOM
  166.  
  167.      The DOS rename file command fails on a NetWare Lite mapped drive with the
  168.      following message:

  170.      MESSAGE

  172.           PATH NOT FOUND

  174. CAUSE

  176.      The file is located at the root directory.

  178. CAUSE
  179.  
  180.      The rename command uses a DOS wildcard character as shown in the
  181.      following example:

  183.           rename docfile.doc *.sav

  185. SYMPTOM
  186.  
  187.      When printing under NetWare Lite, applications may experience corruption
  188.      on their print job under the following conditions:
  189.  
  190.      Applications making calls to the BIOS interrupt 17 function 0 to send
  191.      characters to be printed under NetWare Lite,
  192.  
  193.      The application makes repeated calls to interrupt 17 function 0 to send
  194.      the same character to the printer without reinitializing the character to
  195.      be printed in register AL.
  196.  
  197. CAUSE
  198.  
  199.      The problem is caused because the NetWare Lite client interrupt 17 ISR
  200.      failed to preserve the contents of AL.
  201.

  204.      Apply the patch files included in L11I01.EXE. (Before applying files in
  205.      the FIELDTST sub-directory read FIELDTST.TXT.)

  250.           apportare ad un programma software.

  266.      GENERALITA`
  267.  
  268.      Per correggere tutte le copie di NetWare Lite installate sulla rete
  269.      NetWare Lite, basta un solo dischetto SUPPORT; non ne occorre uno diverso
  270.      per ogni copia di NetWare Lite.
  271.  
  272.      Non correggere i file contenuti nei dischetti originali Program e Driver
  273.      di NetWare Lite. Prima di eseguire UPATCH, creare una copia di backup dei
  274.      file.
  275.  
  276.      Se il software NetWare Lite è installato sul disco rigido della
  277.      workstation, i file da correggere si trovano nella directory C:\NWLITE.
  278.  
  279.      Se il computer è privo di disco rigido, i file da correggere si trovano
  280.      sul disco floppy della workstation contenente il file CLIENT.EXE di
  281.      NetWare Lite.
  282.  
  283.      Per ottenere gli stessi risultati su tutta la rete, eseguire UPATCH e
  284.      correggere tutte le copie di NetWare Lite presenti in rete (ossia tutti i
  285.      server ed i client).  Gli eventuali server e client non corretti
  286.      continueranno a comportarsi in modo anomalo.
  287.  
  288.      Consultare il paragrafo del presente documento relativo alla routine di
  289.      correzione che s'intende applicare. Per ogni correzione viene indicato:
  290.      il file di destinazione, la data della routine, i valori di controllo
  291.      della somma, i problemi risolvibili mediante detta correzione ed i
  292.      sintomi riscontrabili prima che venga applicata.
  293.  
  294.      Le correzioni possono essere apportate con UPATCH sia prima che dopo
  295.      l'esecuzione di NetWare Lite. Notare, tuttavia, che le modifiche
  296.      diventano effettive soltanto dopo il riavvio del computer ed il
  297.      caricamento in memoria dei file corretti.

  300.      ISTRUZIONI PER L'USO DI UPATCH
  301.  
  302.      Correzione del software SERVER o CLIENT sul disco rigido.
  303.  
  304.      1.   Copiare i file .PAT (uno o più) nella directory NWLITE sull'unità
  305.           disco C.
  306.  
  307.      2.   Per applicare la correzione al file di destinazione appropriato,
  308.           digitare "UPATCH" e premere <Invio>.
  309.  
  310.      3.   Quando viene visualizzato di nuovo il prompt di DOS, riavviare il
  311.           computer. I file corretti vengono utilizzati dopo essere stati
  312.           caricati in memoria.
  313.  
  314.      Correzione del software CLIENT su una workstation dotata di dischi
  315.      floppy.
  316.  
  317.      1.   Inserire nell'unità disco A: il dischetto con gli aggiornamenti (sul
  318.           disco floppy devono essere presenti i file .PAT e UPATCH.EXE).
  319.  
  320.      2.   Inserire nell'unità disco B: la copia del dischetto contenente
  321.           CLIENT.EXE, utilizzata specificamente per quella workstation. Non
  322.           correggere i dischetti NetWare Lite originali.
  323.  
  324.      3.   Al prompt di DOS, digitare "A:" e premere <Invio>.
  325.  
  326.      4.   Digitare "UPATCH B:CLIENT.EXE", premere <Invio> e seguire le
  327.           istruzioni fornite sullo schermo.

  329.      NOTA:     le correzioni modificano il file CLIENT.EXE; il file originale
  330.                viene conservato con l'estensione .OLD. Se necessario, si può
  331.                cambiare nome alla versione .OLD ed eseguirla.

  333.      5    Quando viene visualizzato il prompt di DOS, riavviare il computer.
  334.           Il sistema utilizza CLIENT.EXE e lo carica in memoria.
